This Action Plan has produced its first success! The Institute Of Engineers, Trivandrum, in a meeting of the members, decided to install a 3KW (approx.) grid connected solar electric system at the IE premises. The IE is contacting a contractor for an installation project study and report. According to some of the members, a couple of other people at Trivandrum are also planning to install 1KW (approx.) grid connected systems at their homes. Congratulations to all who are involved!
Please post comments here on the requirement from other district centres or interested users, both residential and commercial. Advice on grid-connected PV installations is available from me or others here. I will try to provide very fast response on any question related to solar electric systems posted here.

Sometime back the lack of temperature data in the MNRE handbook linked from this site for TRV posed as an issue for PV module performance evaluation. Someone has compiled this from a reliable site available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiruvananthapuram. This could prove useful. Any comments?
ReplyDeletePKN, Yes, we can use 31C as the average temp. Which is about 6% loss, depending on the NOCT spec of the panel. I am working on a very detailed calculator that takes into account about 7 or so of the losses in a typical installation. Most installers simply ignore these losses. Hopefully I would publish i as an online calculator. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteA new item added to SolarEnergyActionPlan (Part 2) about the first solar grid system install under this plan.
ReplyDeleteI have added two interesting news items.
